Read this first: Motiff is shutting down

Every page on motiff.com now carries the same banner: "Motiff has been discontinued. Data export is available until October 31, 2026." That is seven days from the date of this review. If you have files in Motiff — the AI UI generator or the older Motiff design editor — the export links in that banner (motiff.com/home for current work, motiff.com/export-files for old editor files) are the only path out, and after Halloween 2026 there is no reason to believe they will still work. This review therefore does two jobs: it records what Motiff was, because the sunset is orderly enough that some teams may still salvage work this week, and it tells you not to buy it.

The discontinuation is at least handled better than most. Contrast it with Blizzy, whose domain now speaks in a casino's voice without a word of explanation — Motiff states the shutdown, names a deadline, and provides two export routes. But a graceful ending is still an ending, and under our rules the rating reflects that first.

What Motiff was

Motiff arrived in June 2024 with a global launch at the SuperAI Summit in Singapore (per the PR Newswire release) as an AI-powered professional UI design platform aimed squarely at Figma's market. The launch pricing was aggressive: free, a professional plan at $4/month with dev mode at $1/month, and an organization plan at $15/month with dev mode at $3/month — the vendor claimed over 80% below Figma's equivalent pricing. The product behind those numbers was a serious design tool: a self-developed rendering engine the vendor promoted for performance, professional design features, and AI woven into the editor rather than bolted on — AI layout, an AI Toolbox, and AI design-system features that checked and updated components against guidelines. G2 reviews from its user base echo the positioning: "the same features Figma is more expensive", "similar to Figma's interface, easy to use", and praise for blending AI into the actual design workflow instead of a separate tool.

By 2026 the product had reorganised around a sharper bet: Motiff AI, a prompt-to-UI generator. The current (now sunset) flow takes text, images, PDFs or markdown as input and generates high-fidelity interface sets; offers preset stylings — Minimalist, Material Design, Ant Design, shadcn/ui — held consistent across a generated set; lets you select any element and describe a change to refine it; and exports to Figma (copy generated UI into Figma), to production-oriented code (HTML and React), or as IDE-ready project ZIPs consumable by Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf and VS Code. The vendor's research page claims a scoring methodology over 6+ input modalities, 50+ industries and 7+ workflows with 24/7 automated testing and daily expert review — a vendor claim, but one that shows how seriously it took generation quality.

Final pricing, per the live pricing page at time of writing: a Starter tier free with 100 credits per month, up to 10 generated UIs, image export only (PNG, JPEG, WebP); and Pro at $16/month with 1,000 credits per month, copy-to-Figma, code export and project ZIPs. Annual billing saves 20%. Per a 2026 round-up by toools.design, credits do not roll over month to month. The terms of service confirm credits are non-transferable and non-refundable except where law requires otherwise.

My testing notes

First observation: the shutdown banner is the most reliable information on the site, and the commerce machinery around it is stale in a way that should worry any buyer. As of my check on 24 October 2026, the pricing page still shows a "Subscribe" button for Pro and a "Start free trial" button for the free tier, and the terms of service still explain billing cycles, price changes and credit purchases as though the product had a future. Someone landing from a search result or an affiliate link — the toools.design round-up still links and recommends Motiff — could subscribe to a dead product this week. The terms say fees are non-refundable except as required by law. That combination is precisely how people lose money to sunset events, and it is why the first line of this review is a warning rather than a verdict.

Second observation: when the generator worked, the input handling was the distinguishing part. Where most prompt-to-UI tools take a text box and return a screen, Motiff's flow accepted PDFs and markdown as specification input, which is how product teams actually carry requirements. Combined with preset design systems (shadcn/ui, Ant, Material), the output started closer to something a front-end developer would accept — the toools.design review of the category rates Motiff's code export among the stronger ones for design-to-code handoff, explicitly above Figma Make's. For the price — $16/month against Figma's per-seat professional tier — the value proposition for a solo designer or a small team shipping React was real right up until the announcement.

Third observation: the credit model quietly caps ambition. 100 credits on the free tier equates to roughly 10 UIs at about 10 credits each; Pro's 1,000 credits sounds generous but generation plus iterative refinement — the select-and-describe editing loop — draws from the same pool, and nothing rolls over. In my usage pattern of generating, refining three or four elements, then regenerating a variant, a serious design session burns credits faster than the headline numbers suggest. This mattered less in the sunset context (everyone is now exporting, not generating) than it would have as a long-term cost.

What it did not do

Motiff AI generated UI, it did not design products. There was no research tooling, no user testing, no handoff annotation layer beyond the code export. The Figma path was copy-into-Figma rather than two-way sync, so Figma-based teams could use Motiff as a front end but not live in both. The API question is literally listed in the pricing FAQ — "Does Motiff AI offer an API to generate UI with AI?" — and the answer was not something I could confirm being affirmative in any documentation, so I treat the API as unverified at best. The earlier design-platform incarnation (the $4/month Figma competitor) had its own limits — a smaller plugin and community ecosystem than Figma, and adoption thin enough that the company pivoted the product toward generation.

And of course, the limit that dominates all others: after 31 October 2026 the product stops existing. Any team that had embedded Motiff into its design pipeline — generated component sets, project ZIPs in a repo, design files in the editor — is this week migrating to Figma, to the code export, or to a competitor like Uizard or Magic Patterns. There is no acquisition, no migration path to a successor product, and no word from the company on what happens to the generation backend.

Verdict

Motiff is the frustrating case: a product with real capability, real users and real price advantage that is about to stop existing. Judged on what it built — prompt-to-UI with design-system presets, multi-format spec input, Figma copy-out, and code export that reviewers rated among the category's strongest — it deserved a future in the toolkits of solo designers and small React teams. Judged on what a reader can do with this review today, the only responsible advice is: export before 31 October 2026 and pick a living alternative. I rate it 2.5 — 2.8 for core functionality depth of what shipped, 2.6 for value now that subscriptions are pointless and credits are non-refundable, 3.3 for usability (the Figma-like interface drew consistent praise), 2.0 for support and ecosystem in a wind-down, and 0.5 on reliability signals, where "discontinued, export deadline in seven days" is definitive. The category lesson from Blizzy repeats within a week: in a crowded AI tool market, checking that a product is alive is part of checking whether it is good.

Sources

Pros

  • Prompt-to-UI with multi-format spec input (text, images, PDFs, markdown) — requirements documents could seed generation directly, not just a chat box
  • Preset design systems (Minimalist, Material, Ant, shadcn/ui) held consistent across a generated set, closer to developer-acceptable output than most generators
  • Code export was among the category's stronger ones per toools.design's 2026 round-up — HTML, React and IDE-ready ZIPs for Cursor, Claude Code and VS Code
  • Historically excellent price/performance: launched at $4/month professional against Figma's per-seat pricing, final Pro at $16/month with 1,000 credits
  • The wind-down is orderly: an explicit deadline (31 October 2026) and two documented export routes for current and legacy files

Cons

  • Discontinued — banner on every page confirms it, with data export only until 31 October 2026
  • The pricing page still offers Subscribe and Start-free-trial buttons on a dead product, and fees are non-refundable per the terms — a live trap for search traffic
  • Credits do not roll over and iterative refinement draws from the same pool, so real sessions consumed far more than headline numbers suggest
  • Figma integration is copy-into-Figma, not two-way sync; no confirmed public API
  • No acquisition or successor announced — no migration path beyond self-export

Best For

Nobody new — the product is discontinued; existing users should export their files and projects before the 31 October 2026 deadline.
