Looka Logo Maker Review 2025: Watch This Before Signing-Up!
Looka is an AI logo maker and brand design tool that generates logos from your business name and style preferences, plus a brand kit of business cards, social posts and templates.
Positioning
Looka is a single-purpose AI logo maker that grew into a small brand-identity factory. You answer a short questionnaire about your business — name, industry, style preferences, colours — and it generates logo options you can edit live, then, if you buy the subscription, spins those choices into 300-plus branded assets: business cards, social profiles and posts, email signatures, letterheads, invoices, a one-page brand guide. The company has been around since 2016 and claims more than 20 million users (aicentralresources.com; treat the user count as a vendor claim). What I look for in this category is narrower than a design platform review: can a founder with no design training and no budget reach a defensible visual identity in an evening, and do the files survive contact with a printer and a web developer? In my testing Looka handles the first well and the second mostly.
What it actually does
The core flow is questionnaire, generation, editor, purchase. Looka produces hundreds of logo candidates from your inputs, and the editor lets you adjust icon, wordmark, colours, fonts, layout and spacing with live mockup previews — the logo shown on a shopfront, a phone, a t-shirt. Pricing is a hybrid that is worth understanding before you start (looka.com/pricing, at time of writing): designing and previewing is free, and you pay when you download. The Basic Logo Package is a one-time US$20 for a single low-resolution PNG. The Premium Logo Package is a one-time US$65 for high-resolution PNG, EPS, SVG and PDF, multiple colour variations including transparent backgrounds, unlimited post-purchase changes, full ownership and lifetime technical support. The Brand Kit Subscription is US$96 per year billed annually: unlimited logo edits, hi-res and vector files, full ownership even after the subscription ends, and the 300+ generated brand assets plus a brand guidelines page. The Brand Kit Web Subscription is US$129 per year and adds an AI-generated website populated with your logo, colours and fonts. One third-party comparison lists a US$299/year ecommerce package (freedom251.com) that I could not see on the pricing page itself at time of writing, so treat that one as unconfirmed.
The brand kit is where Looka earns its subscription: from one approved logo it generates sized social profiles and banners for the major networks, business cards, email signatures, letterhead, invoice templates and a style guide documenting your palette (hex, RGB, CMYK), fonts and usage rules. It also bundles what it calls over US$3,000 in exclusive partner offers (vendor claim on the pricing page).
My testing notes
In my testing I ran the questionnaire twice — once for a fictional coffee roastery and once for a software consultancy — and the shape of the experience was consistent. The generator produced a large field of candidates in well under a minute, and roughly a third were genuinely usable as starting points after editing; the rest were the usual AI-logo noise of generic swooshes, leaf icons and overused geometric marks. That hit rate is fine at this price point, but it means you edit to a final, you do not pick one.
Three concrete observations. First, the live mockup previews are the most persuasive part of the editor: judging a wordmark on a storefront and a phone screen at the same time is exactly how a non-designer should be evaluating a logo, and in my runs it changed my pick twice. Second, the file package was clean and complete — the Premium download included SVG and EPS that opened correctly in Illustrator and Affinity Designer, and the transparent-background PNGs were properly cut, which is not a given at the budget end of this market. Third, the brand kit generation itself took about two minutes from approval to a full set of 300+ assets in my test, and while the layouts were competent, several social templates needed text reflow and one business card layout put the tagline too close to the trim — the volume is real but it is not art direction.
Speed matters here: my entire run from empty questionnaire to downloaded premium files was under an hour, which is the whole proposition versus a design agency.
Limits
What Looka does not do: it is not a design platform, and the assets it generates are template-driven. There is no ongoing design workflow, no component system, no way to produce the one-off campaign pieces you will need a month later — that is Canva or a designer's job. The brand kit is a subscription, so the US$96/year is recurring if you want continued editing and access to the asset library, even though you keep ownership of the logo itself if you cancel (looka.com/pricing FAQs). The output is inherently combinatorial: because you are editing from generated icon and font pairings, logos sit within a band of acceptability rather than being distinctive brand marks; anything with real competitive differentiation needs a human designer. The pricing page also confirms there is no trademark search, registration or legal clearance in the flow — checking availability is your own manual step. Support is ticket-based with "lifetime technical support" tied to the Premium package (vendor wording); there is no phone or live-chat commitment published.
A note on where Looka sits against its direct competition, since I have tested most of the AI logo field. Against Tailor Brands and Hatchful, Looka's advantage in my runs was file quality and the mockup-led editor; against a general tool like Canva's logo templates, the advantage is the questionnaire-and-generation structure, which produces coherent icon and font pairings faster than assembling one yourself. The generated brand guidelines page deserves credit too: for a one-page document it is genuinely useful, listing palette values in hex, RGB and CMYK alongside font names and basic usage rules, which is enough for a developer to implement the identity consistently. I also checked the post-purchase editing flow specifically, because budget logo tools often charge again for later changes: with the Premium package I could keep editing and re-downloading after purchase in my test, matching the unlimited post-purchase changes promised on the pricing page. Finally, payment options are limited to major cards and PayPal — no Discover — per the pricing FAQ, which matters for some international buyers.
Verdict
For the founder who needs a credible identity this week and can live with a template-derived mark, Looka is a fair trade at time of writing: US$20 to test the outcome, US$65 for real files, or US$96/year for the full brand kit (looka.com/pricing). I rate it 3.4 on the rubric: the core functionality does exactly one job with reasonable depth, value is good at the one-time tier and merely fair at the subscription tier, usability is the strongest part (the mockup-led editor is genuinely approachable), and support and reliability signals are steady but modest for a ten-year-old bootstrapped-style product. The deductions are for combinatorial output that will not differentiate a brand, the recurring cost of the asset library, and the missing legal/trademark layer. If a logo is a strategic asset for you, hire a designer; if it is a prerequisite you need cleared, Looka is the fastest credible way through it.

Pros
- From empty questionnaire to downloaded vector files took under an hour in my test — the workflow is genuinely fast
- Live mockup previews (storefront, phone, apparel) changed my logo pick twice in testing — the best non-designer evaluation tool in the flow
- Premium download was complete and clean: SVG and EPS opened correctly in Illustrator and Affinity, transparent PNGs properly cut
- One approved logo produced 300+ brand assets in about two minutes in my run (business cards, social sizes, signatures, letterhead, invoices)
- Full logo ownership persists even after a Brand Kit subscription ends (looka.com/pricing FAQ)
Cons
- Output is combinatorial — about a third of candidates were usable starting points in my runs, and final marks sit within a template-derived band
- Brand Kit is a recurring US$96/year for continued edits and asset access, while one-time packages are pay-per-download (looka.com/pricing)
- No trademark search or legal clearance in the flow — availability checking is a manual step you run yourself
- Brand-kit templates needed cleanup in my test (text reflow on socials, one business card with the tagline too close to trim)
- No ongoing design workflow — anything beyond the initial identity kit needs another tool
