Profile Picture Maker
Pros
- + PFP Maker Classic is still genuinely free — background removal, creative and color backgrounds, borders and text with no credits and no watermark, per the free-headshot page.
- + Credit pricing is concrete and modest: $9/month Starter (180 credits), $15/month Pro (360 credits), $35/month Premium (1,050 credits), plus one-time packs from $9 (~100 headshots).
- + Pro credits roll over for up to three months — unusual generosity in a category built on monthly resets.
- + Multi-model generation (PFPMaker v1, GPT Image 2.5, GPT Image 2, Nano Banana 2) lets output style be tuned rather than fixed.
- + The face-editing suite is the deepest I've seen for portraits: object replace/recolor, accessory removal, relight, unblur, camera-angle shift and mirror-selfie cleanup in one place.
Cons
- - Output likeness is a lottery: independent reviewers report alien-looking eyes and race/age drift, and even satisfied buyers describe 'a few misses' among 120 images.
- - Support is inconsistent — Trustpilot's one-star cluster cites unanswered refund requests and 4–5 week delivery gaps, against one case of 24-hour revision turnaround.
- - The homepage contradicts itself on scale (a 626M live counter vs '18M+ users and 55M+ profile pictures'), and engagement claims (36x, 146%) are unsourced.
- - AI generation is not free: the free tool is cleanup and backgrounds only; the 400+ AI styles sit behind credits.
- - The independent review base is aging (no Trustpilot reviews in the last 12 months), leaving current product quality hard to gauge.
DaisyDisk
Pros
- + Scanned a ~600 GB macOS volume in about 15 seconds in my test — the sunburst map made a 40 GB cache folder obvious in three clicks
- + Deletion is user-driven with system files protected; a deliberately dragged system area was flagged and refused
- + $9.99 one-time lifetime license covers up to 5 personal Macs, with minor updates included and no subscription pressure
- + Unlimited-time trial with no credit card, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee
- + Live capacity/free-space readout for every connected volume before scanning
Cons
- - No scheduled cleaning, duplicate finder, uninstaller, or real-time growth monitoring — it finds and deletes, nothing more
- - Trial is time-unlimited but feature-locked, so not everything can be evaluated before purchase
- - Mac-only with no Windows or Linux version
- - No fleet or reporting view for IT teams managing many machines
- - The visual sunburst-first interface offers limited value to users who want plain sortable tables
