Invideo AI - Full Tutorial: Best AI Video Generator

invideo generates and edits video from text prompts, and its agentic editor applies the same edit across multiple shots at once.

Where invideo AI sits

invideo AI is the prompt-to-video product from InVideo, the Mumbai-founded video platform launched in April 2019 by Sanket Shah and Harsh Vakharia and funded with a $15 million Series A in October 2020 led by Sequoia Capital India with Tiger Global participating. I have watched this product change shape more than almost anything else in the AI video category. It started life as a template-driven online editor, then leaned hard into text-to-video generation, and by late 2026 it is marketed as an agentic video platform: you brief a prompt, an agent builds the cut, and you iterate in a workspace that mixes generated footage, licensed stock, and an editor. The current pricing page is the clearest evidence of where the company is going — it is organised around monthly credit allowances and access tiers to third-party generation models (Google Veo 3.1, Sora 2, Kling, Wan, Pixverse, Hailuo, Seedance, Nano Banana Pro, and more), not around export quotas in the old template-editor sense.

What I look for in this category is straightforward: can a non-editor get from a written brief to something publishable without fighting the tool, and can a working creator control enough of the output to defend it to a client? invideo AI answers the first question better than the second, and the gap between the two is the story of this review.

What it actually does

At its core, invideo AI turns a text prompt into a complete video: script, voiceover, matched stock or generated footage, captions, music, and a finished timeline. The current product splits into a few layers. There is the prompt-to-video flow, where you describe length, tone, audience, and platform and receive a first cut in minutes. There is an agentic editing layer — invideo calls its agents Agent Two, with Lite, Pro, and Ultra tiers gated by subscription — that applies instructions conversationally ("make it punchier", "swap the B-roll in the middle section") across multiple shots at once rather than one edit at a time. There are the underlying models: image generation (Nano Banana Pro, Ideogram, Seedream, Flux Kontext and others), video generation (Veo 3.1, Sora 2, Kling, Seedance and others), and voice (ElevenLabs and Minimax are named on the site), plus voice cloning, face swap, and a large stock library. The pricing page shows stock allowances of 100, 200, and 500 "premium stock footage" clips depending on plan, and storage of 200 GB, 600 GB, and 2,000 GB. Invideo also ships an MCP server (invideo.io/mcp), which means you can drive creation from an external AI assistant — a genuinely useful direction that few competitors have followed.

Pricing at time of writing, taken from invideo.io/pricing in October 2026: Starter at $20 per seat per month billed annually (shown with a 50% first-time discount to $10), Plus at $60 per seat per month billed annually (discounted to $30), and Max at $150 per seat per month billed annually (discounted to $75), with monthly billing costing more — the page states savings of $120, $360, and $885 per seat versus monthly for the three tiers. Credits are 400, 2,000, and 5,000 per seat per month, and Max can scale to 10,000 or 15,000 credits. The page itself translates credits into concrete output: 400 credits is roughly 160 Nano Banana Pro image generations or about 15 Seedance 2 fast video clips. A help-centre FAQ aimed at AI video creators recommends the Max tier for people publishing weekly, which tells you the vendor expects regular production to sit above the entry tier.

My testing notes

Three observations from working with the current build stand out.

First, the credit economy is the real user interface. Because every plan thinks in credits and each model burns them at a different rate, my effective workflow became model-shopping: draft structure with a cheap path, spend on Seedance or Veo only for hero shots. The pricing page's own equivalences make this concrete — the same 400 credits buy 160 image generations or 15 fast video clips — and third-party cost analyses (vidup.ai's pricing breakdown) note that retakes and regenerations bill again rather than being folded into the original generation. In practice I found myself rationing iterations, which is fine for disciplined production and frustrating when you are still searching for the concept. The Starter plan makes this sharper: it excludes Seedance 2.5 and Seedance 2.0 entirely and limits you to Agent Two Lite, so the entry tier is genuinely a different product than Plus and Max.

Second, the agentic editor is the feature that changes how the tool feels. Asking for a single change — tighten pacing across the whole cut, replace stock in a named section, reframe for 9:16 — and having it applied consistently across shots saved me the per-clip grind I know from timeline editors. Where it got choppy was intent parsing on longer prompts with two or three conditions; I had better results issuing one instruction per turn than bundling a paragraph of changes. The editor itself (invideo Editor, described as free to use in the FAQ) gives you a conventional timeline underneath, so nothing the agent does is irreversible — that two-layer design is the right call.

Third, output quality depends heavily on which model tier you have paid for. Full access to Seedance 2.5 at 1080p and Seedance 2.0 at 4K only appears from the Plus tier upward. In my testing, footage assembled from the stock-plus-generation mix on Starter read as competent social content but not as client-deliverable work, mainly because the stock fallbacks repeat and the generated clips occasionally shift style mid-video. Captions and voiceover were reliable enough to publish after one pass.

Where it falls short

The obvious limit is control. invideo AI is built to produce finished videos from briefs, not to let you sculpt frame-level detail; anyone whose work demands manual keyframing, colour work, or audio mixing will still finish elsewhere. Stock-dependent cuts can feel generic — the library is large, but recognisable stock is recognisable. The credit model is harder to reason about than a flat export quota, and the aggressive 50%-off pricing shown across the site at time of writing is promotional; the underlying per-seat prices are the ones to plan around. The free experience is narrow: per invideo's own help material summarised by Cliptude (checked October 2026), free accounts get a limited credit allowance that resets weekly, and free renders carry invideo's watermark. Note that third-party pricing trackers disagree slightly with the vendor here — usagepricing.com recorded the pricing table as showing four paid tiers and no free plan when it first rendered in August 2026 — so if a free plan matters to you, confirm current signup terms directly before committing. I also could not verify a public self-serve API beyond the MCP server; the site sells an Enterprise tier without publishing its terms, so volume buyers should expect a sales conversation.

Verdict

InVideo AI is a maturing agentic video workspace whose top tiers buy real model access and whose editing agent removes busywork faster than anything I have used in prompt-to-video — but its entry tier is deliberately hobbled, and precision control stays thin. I rate it 3.7: strong depth of core functionality for prompt-driven production and decent value at Plus level, held back by credit-model complexity, generic-stock risk, and a free tier too small to judge the product on. For content marketers and YouTubers who brief well and iterate quickly, it earns its seat; for editors and agencies selling craft, treat it as a first-draft machine.

Sources

Pros

  • Prompt-to-full-video output with script, voiceover, captions, and matched footage in one pass
  • Agentic editor applies a single instruction across multiple shots at once, which cut my revision time on repetitive edits
  • Paid tiers carry genuine access to current generation models (Veo 3.1, Sora 2, Seedance), not just a proprietary engine
  • MCP server lets external AI assistants drive creation, a rare integration in this category
  • Timeline editor sits under the agent output, so every AI edit stays reversible

Cons

  • Starter tier excludes Seedance 2.5/2.0 and the higher agent tiers, so entry-level output noticeably trails Plus and Max
  • Credit accounting varies by model and retakes bill again, which makes monthly output hard to forecast
  • Stock-heavy cuts repeat familiar footage and can feel generic on client work
  • Free tier is a small weekly credit allowance with watermarked renders (per invideo help material)
  • Frame-level control (keyframes, colour, audio mixing) is thin enough that finishing work often leaves the tool

Best For

Content marketers and YouTubers who want publish-ready videos from written briefs and can live with credit-metered generation.
