Notion AI (Writing)
Pros
- + Workspace grounding is the real feature — summaries and answers cited my own sub-pages and database rows accurately in testing
- + AI lives where the work happens: no copy-paste round trips through a chat window, formatting preserved
- + Data handling is documented: no training on customer data without opt-in, subprocessors contractually barred (notion.com/pricing FAQ)
- + Business bundle at $20/member/month annual is close to the old Plus+add-on spend and adds SSO, private teamspaces, 90-day history
- + AI Meeting Notes, AI search and multi-step Notion Agent cover the full loop from capture to draft to action
Cons
- - The $10 AI add-on was retired in May 2025 — AI access now requires Business at $20/member/month minimum for new sign-ups
- - Prose quality trails specialist writing assistants; drafts over-organize into bulleted lists and tone controls move the register less
- - Free and Plus get only a limited allocation of complimentary AI responses that stops mid-workflow when exhausted
- - Custom Agents meter on credits ($10 per 1,000, no rollover, since May 4, 2026) — automation-heavy use is hard to forecast
- - Outside Notion the product has no value; grounded answers wobble in messy, unmaintained workspaces
Visme AI
Pros
- + Charts and data widgets remain live, editable objects after AI generation - I changed source numbers post-draft without rebuilding the layout
- + Export ladder is practical: PPTX, HTML5, MP4 and GIF on Business, plus SCORM/xAPI for training content
- + Annual Starter pricing ($147/year, $12.25/month equivalent at time of writing) is roughly half the monthly-billing cost reported by third-party listings
- + Brand kit applies colors and fonts consistently to new AI drafts in my team test
- + Public changelog with dated releases (including a 2025 year-in-review) shows steady maintenance
Cons
- - Free plan keeps the Visme watermark and caps projects at 50 slides/pages, so it is not usable for client work
- - AI Designer layouts for long, hierarchy-heavy documents often need manual restructuring
- - No professional photo editing or vector drawing - assets have to come from outside
- - Underlying AI models are not disclosed in public docs, which matters for provenance-sensitive teams
- - Roughly 50 to 60 percent of the advertised price disappears as an annual-billing discount, which makes headline monthly prices misleading
